Algarve Region of Portugal
A walk around the Vilamoura area proved interesting with marshes, Cork trees and the red cliffs famous in the Algarve region of Portugal. The cork is havested from the trees every 9 years and allowed to grow back. It is used to make purses, belts, etc and is one of the main crops in this mostly dry area. The red cliffs are dramatic against the white sand of the miles of beaches.
