Portsmouth is Britain's premier naval base and a tour revealed the history beginning with the first dock in 1194 . On display are the HMS Warrior launched in 1860 , the Mary Rose, the only surviving 16th century warship on display anywhere in the world and the HMS Victory which was Nelson's flagship in which she led the crushing defeat of the French and Spanish fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. This ship is still manned today.
